My 1983 RGS I believe is virtually a unique bike. Most of you know of Malcolm Cox, he has been in the Laverda brand for over 50 years (Cox Engineering 1978) he bought two RGS 1000’s only one number apart and set about restoring and rebuilding them in every detail. I believe only three RGS bikes built to this standard by a Laverda professional exist today one was bought and is now being ridden in Israel. I have this bike, 1705, here in the UK, which was originally destined to go to Michigan in the U.S.A. Unfortunately the planned sale was not completed as the buyer passed away. Malcolm still has the third which is sold and being prepared now. I have a 50 page photo build book detailing the restoration of this bike 1705 and more photos, I am happy to send this to anyone who may be interested along with a walk round video of the bike running. The bike has been professionally recently refinished in Ferrari 812 Superfast Giallo/Yellow (I am a 45 years automotive paint specialist) IMG_4618.jpegwith satin black wheels and Brembo brake calipers, complemented by the full Cox black chrome exhaust system and brake discs. It can only be described as stunning, it certainly does turn heads. It has completed 1200 miles since the rebuild. I am happy to ship globally from the UK and will answer any questions you may have. Price £11750 or there abouts.

You certain that it's not one I sold to Malcolm.

1705 was my bike and I rode it to Breganze in 2017. I bought it in 2014 from Tony Winterton who had owned it for a good many years and made quite a few mods to it. Malc returned it to a more 'standard' appearance, although I've never been a great fan of yellow.

Tony previously owned 1701, The Enterprise, in 1992 when I first met him. I ended up owning 1701 for a few years, including riding him down to Breganze too, more than once. I sold him c. 2017.

I remember that black RGS that Scrumpy rode to Breganze. Was aptly named the fuel pig as you would have to look for fuel stops before 180 k’s as the bloody thing drank fuel at an alarming rate rate. Still if you talk to anyone that was on that ride they all say the same thing, was the ride of their life. I consider myself lucky to have travelled with such a merry bunch of men😂👍

Your RGS wasn’t the prettiest bike within Team BFN, but it kept up with everybody else with gusto and got Scrumpy to the next beer stop every time

Glad it went to a good home, but, I suggest you sell it back to Scrumpy, he said he had a few cans of matt black spray paint left.
