RGS Instrument electrical connectors

Hi guys, I'm having Richard Prowse make me up a new wiring loom for the RGS , however he is having problems finding the connectors for the instrument cluster. Does anyone know where they might be sourced.

Hi Matt. They are all the same design just different sizes and push onto what looks like a PCB edge connector.

An email to kojaycat.co.uk with some photos of the connectors might get a result. They've successfully identified and supplied unusual connectors for me in the past.

The original supplier is AMP which then morphed to Tyco and now known as TE Connectivity who are the largest manufactuer of electrical connectors in the world.

The connector shown is an edge connector of a very early design.

The challenge of course is to find a supply in small quantities.

I doubt they are still being manufactured.

Have a close look at the connector and see if there is a number on it.

I can then look further for you.

Thanks guys, sorry been away from the computer for a few days, just checked the connectors - no numbers apart from '2' on the two smaller connectors and '10' on the larger.

I'd start at long-established Fiat/Lancia dealers, the instruments are based on those used in Autobianchi A110s of the 80's.  Probably a few others as well, but the A110 is the most obvious.  It's a very long shot, but you never know what's lurking in the back of these shops, sometimes the strangest things surface. :D

Bound to be a A110 forum on the web, maybe they can help.

Cheers Piet, I did post on a fiat forum last week, but haven't checked for a few days. Not so important now as I am going to rewire the bike myself. I had asked someone to make up a loom so they needed the connectors, but that has fallen through.  What else am I going to do on a winters evening during lockdown - apart from drinking. Or do both at the same time and sell it as a giant jigsaw puzzle or some modern art.

I'm on a mission here.

I work in the automotive electrical industry and can remember these connectors from way back, the trick is finding the part numbers and then the physical parts.

I've now asked my TE rep to try and identify them, lets see.

There are many cars of 80's & 90's vintage that use these ( Not just Fiats ).

Cheers Matt, good to hear, been in contact with Wolfgang in Canada over the last few days who has a NOS harness, still going to make my own but if Wolfgang has the connectors so much the better. He might be worth an email as a possible source of info on the edge connectors.

Hi Matt - if you do manage to identify and source these connectors, I'd be interested in a couple of sets. I'm guessing you've got pictures of the 3 different connectors used - 4, 6 & 8 way.  If not I can send you some.

Last time I spoke to Wolfgang on this subject he only had the loom variant which ended with the multipin plug in the fairing and did not include the instrument panel sub-loom. He subsequently did get hold of the variant I needed, but I didn't follow up on what and wasn't included.

Can you also double check if there are any part numbers on the connectors ?

If I get a source I'll shout out to the forum to see who wants what.......... ;)
