Probably so. M14 switch seems to be a hard to find item, while there are plenty of M10 switches available. Has anybody tried to fit one with M10 to M14 adapter?

the neutral switch is unique to Laverda for what I found when years ago I did the research myself, not wanting to pay 27€ for one at that time (funny enough, I asked for a price for 10 and the british dealer who had them raised the price to 34€ if I order 10...). I then got into contact with the manufacturer of that neutral switch at that time. The minimum quantity for a re-production first was 10.000. After some negotiations, it came down to 3.500, but with a high setup-cost.

Calculating, that all dealers worldwide would have a need maybe for 500 all together, the re-production cost per sellable item was around 20 or 22 €. Not worth the hassle I thought to safe actually 5 € or 10 € while having the potential issue not to get rid of what is needed to sell to get just the costs back.

so - If you think the ones offered new are expensive, re-read the above. Same was for the SJCE starters btw. Handed the contact and offers over to OCT, who bought a bulk of these starters and can supply you ever since.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, I can't do that. The switch on my Jota is in use. But I was told that the switch measures 22mm from the tip to the bottom of the thread.
I have a couple lying around. I'll have a look. Remind me because I'm off riding now.

the neutral switch is unique to Laverda
There's nothing special about Laverda neutral switch. A switch is a switch. It may be hard to find a replacement, but shouldn't be impossible. I did some googling and couldn't find a M14x1.5 neutral light switch, but there are M14x1.5 reverse light switches available. That would work as well. The only issue is to find one with suitable length. If the original is 22mm, that would be the minimum length. Couple of extra millimetres wouldn't matter, shims would fix that. I will continue the hunt in a better time...

I did not say it's special, I said it is - to my best knowledge - unique. As said, I was in touch with the manufacturer and asked them who else used this setup from them. The answer was: Only Laverda did order these. Happy to be prooven wrong though! :-)

Good luck!!

If you have a lathe, it would be feasible to make one by boring out an M14 bolt and inserting some switch gubbins. Bit of an unnecessary hassle though if they're still obtainable.

A while back I had to replace a switch in the transmission of my Mitsubishi 4WD. It has 5 such switches for various functions. This particular one was for the centre diff lock indicator on the dash, but it looked very much like the neutral switch you guys are describing. I think it was a M14 thread with a ball-detent switch mechanism.
Bugger! If I'd kept the old knackered switch I could have measured it. But I'm not pulling it out again to check. It was a pain in the arse to get to the bloody thing to swap it.

There are probably heaps of switches out there that would do the job. The problem is that spare parts suppliers never give the dimensions or any other specs of parts. They just say "fits Toyota model xxx" or Harley shitbox, or something similar, so unless you get one in your hands there's no way to tell if it'll be suitable.
