Hi following a magnificent repair to my fuel sender it is leaking fuel from the gasket - should I have used a sealer as well and if so what?

Thanks

Kevin

I usually ( and have done this job more than once as anal about getting the thing to read correctly so have it down to a fine art dont even drain all the fuel ) make sure that both surfaces are clean and that the fuel sender surface is not distorted too much  if so then you need to flatten the surface which can be tricky but is doable. Also ensure that the rubber is also clean. I then use some wurth ( no shares just like the colour of the sealer ) flange sealer the tank, fit the rubber then let it cure for about 5 mins.. then repeat on the fuel sender side, again let cure for 5 then tighten up the 6 7mm head flanged nyloc's but do not ring thier necks.. let is set for another 10 and you should be good to go.
You could also use a fine bead of silicon sealer but again let it cure before installation and tightening.

Hi thanks for that, having had a closer look I am clearly guilty of over tightening so will spend some time on it at the weekend, I was so happy after riveting the sender back together and having it work .....................
