RGS Starter Problem

Hi there

My Fighter is a bit sick at the moment... I have been very busy lately and the weather is crap so the RGS was standing for a couple of months... Next weekend is a bike show and I want to go with the Fighter.

Thing is. As soon as I hit the start button it sounds like the starter is just spinning, not catching on the gear... So it sounds like something is grinding.... Allmost like when you put a live dog through a band saw... I have a SJCE one in at the moment and took it out to check.. Auto shop said everything is fine inside. Can one of my Bosch series 2 180 clutches work in the RGS?

Any Help would be good thanks... need to short the shit out this week!

OK so those roller were eating away my freewheel.  >:(

Have swapped it all with one of my 1200`s... It was a bastart to get the stuff back together. Those rollers keeps falling out.

Do you guys use locktite on the screw when re-assemble or just torque it?

Thank you

Hi Scorch

If you mean the three allen screws that hold the sprag clutch pressed steel cover, yes, they are prone to working loose although the factory didn't seem to use Loctite.

Scorch,

When reassembling, use a drop of Loctite.  After initial tightening, tap the screw heads lightly with a hammer, you will find you can now tighten them a little more.  Repeat several times till no more tightening is possible.

Seems the tinny cover prevents the screws from fully bottoming in the countersunk bore.  They will then quickly loosen themselves in use, and one more sprag clutch is fit for the skip...
