RGS steerer tube dust seal

Hi there.
Fairly new to forum and pleased to see there is a wealth of knowledge out there on all things Laverda.
I'm overhauling  rgs marzocchi forks and bearings etc. All good but stuck on removal  of lower taper bearing. Got that covered with engineering  shop I hope but in an effort to "persuade" off the bearing by tapping it off I have mullered the dust shield that sits underneath.
A bike shop had tried pressing  out bearing to no avail so only option for me.
Please can anyone suggest a possible source to replace this cover, or part number or is it possible to fit a generic item that may be available  out there.
Thanks in advance!
Col.

To remove the interference fit lower race try grinding it with a small grinding wheel fitted to an electric drill, when nearly ground through, tap the ground part with a cold chisel, it should crack, then it's only a matter of sliding the race off.

Thanks Legs,
Yes I may try that with a dremel as machine shop hasn't got back. Seems easier with bicycles!  :)

Seen plenty of bicycles with no slot designed into the lower crown races and no alternative but to be 'stern' with the bloody things. Even using a sharpened industrial hacksaw blade as a pry to start them off, damage to the fork is often unavoidable.

With the Lav if I have access to a press it's often easier to press the centre shaft out of the lower clamp.

I may have posted this before, but it's a useful idea.

This lower triple clamp is from a BMW. Note the two holes either side of the steering stem. You can insert a pin punch from the underside and simply tap the bearing race off.  I reckon you could do the same thing with a Laverda triple clamp.  Drill through from the bottom of the clamp until you hit the bearing spacer/dust seal washer, then use a pin punch to knock the race off. Once you've got it off, you may want to de-burr the edge of the hole where the drill broke through. Next time someone has to do the same job, the holes are already there.

Thank you Dellortoman and all for advice.
All very helpful. I have cut off the offending bearing inner without too much drama. Can't wait to get new bearing and  dust shield installed. Can see why this is often regarded a "do it another day" job!
Cheers.
