RGS Tacho

The other thing I noticed is not working which the PO told me, is the tacho is a bit wacko. It seems to stay around 2k even with the ignition off but if you turn lights off and on it moves randomly. Have to admit when I had it running for it's 10 second trial I forgot to look at it but assume it's not working right. So do I put my electronics hat on and search for the issue or is it a known and easily fixed issue?

It has a moto witt ignition fitted, could that possibly be not wired up properly?

Edit: don't bother answering this till I've read all the threads on it, shoulda looked first... ;)

There is a problem with the RGS tacho, it goes all haywire when it looses its balls.
That is there are some balance weights and with use they wear and fall off.
This is normally the cause of a wonky RGS tacho.
Fixable by an instrument tech who can do it.

I also seem to remember that a fix for an erratic tacho with the Moto Witt ignition is a capacitor in circuit, Alan "A14RGS" told me about it years ago.

Steven, you have a good memory!
Drikko, contact Moto Witt and they'll send you a capacitor and a simple wiring diagram. Fitting it stops the erratic revcounter for a while.... ::)

Alan :)
