RGS Tyres

Thats why I carry a 2 mitre length of 12mm wire rope with a couple of eyes on the ends and a whacking big padlock.Lock it to the nearest immovable object and hick away.Used to do a lot of solo touring into remote spots in the before mobile phone days.I used to carry a can of foam as well but the last time I used one it lasted about 5ks,just enough to ride to Woody's Honda at Yong just as they closed.Left the bike there for a flat fix and came back next weekend to get it.Got to make your own luck with flats, sitting on the side of the road with a hopeful smile doesn't do much these days.Any time I stop for a bike in this situation most are shocked a stranger would bother, years ago it was the norm.

I've done the hitch-hiking thing with the wheel too. But I was travelling with a girlfriend and I left her to mind the bike. It was a stinking hot day on a dusty road in outback Queensland with nothing better than a wire fence for shade. She was a bit dehydrated and cranky by the time I got back some 4 hours later. There's no pleasing some people  :D
