What is the preferred choice of RH switch block (kill/starter) to use with a Motion Pro push pull throttle?
thanks

Hi Pete,
I brought a starter/kill switch from the wreckers in Ozzie Park, came off a cbr250. Nice and slim. On my 750 I just cut the original Suzi switch in half.

Here's what I did fitting the quick action push/pull throttle on to POP.
I cut away the adjacent side of the throttle body housing and slid it over the push/pull mechanism.
Hopefully the pic better explains it.

I'm just using a NipponDenso Suzuki GT750 push/pull throttle, virtually identical to the NipponDenso single cable throttle as used by Laverda but it has both push and pull cables. I don't know how it compares to the MotionPro throttle in terms of speed of action, I'm happy with the Suzuki throttle ratio but it's hard to ride aggressively in Florida.

MotionPro used to make a throttle with adjustable ratios, with a bunch of little inserts you could select one and wrap it around the throttle tube to change the ratio. Designed for dirt bikes, single cable only, but I always wondered if the throttle tube could be adapted to a NipponDenso throttle housing to give variable ratios for the Laverda racing types here.

My solution was same as Ken's. I bought a used Suzuki GT750 switch block and twistgrip assembly off ebay. It has pull/push action, with the starter button and kill switch very similar to the original Laverda item. I think it cost me about $25 and even came with good pair of cables!

There's usually a bunch of NOS ones on eBay for about $100, like this one in USA:

GTReiner has them, NOS GT750 switchblock and pull/pull throttle. Has white lettering rather than orange but.

Note that the Suzi throttle has same size threads for both cables but Motionpro are different diameters so you need to buy the Suzi cables as well.

I did this with a Guzzi Sport 1100 a few years back.

A simple dirt bike style kill switch can be made to work. Only need to rewire the starter relay so that the ground is the open circuit. Switches can be found very inexpensively, and the set up looks pretty cool too.

Of course - you dont have a 'kill' switch with this option, but it's never been a bother to me.

i thought a kill switch was a legal requirement in many places

Hi,

I am using Yamaha R1 or R6 switches. Have them on my 3CL with Domino Push/Pull throttle, but do not not which is on right. They are rather small and fit perfectly to the Domino throttle.
