I believe it was the first time ever that here in the USA a cricketer got a mention on Sports TV, both CNN Sports and FOX Sports carried reports on the death of Shane Warne. As an aside, they also mentioned another famous cricketer who died 2 days earlier, Rod Marsh.

My brother woke me up at 2am to tell me about this, it made world news on all Networks as breaking news, breaking into coverage of that Missile attack on the Nuclear Power Plant. Shows how famous he was.
