How many genuine 180 Jota’s were made by Slaters….?
OK clever chap. How many were created by Slaters based on modification of bikes made by Laverda. Bet you’re a star at parties!None.![]()
Sounds like a plan. I’m in touch with him about authentication as we speak. Thanks Sock!Ask Richard how many he has issued 'Certificates of Authenticity' for, and how many are waiting for the payment to clear?
That'll give you a total, for now.![]()
I see it’s not as simple a question as I had initially thought! This question gets asked time and time again. As far as I know Slaters only built the first few bikes around 1976, I remember seeing the silver Jotas in crates fresh from the factory without silencers fitted if my brain is still functioning so they were built at Breganze and Slaters fitted the silencers. The first few Jotas were green, then red. The one on ebay recently could have been a genuine early one.
I dropped Richard a line this morning but will follow up on the year book. Many thanks for your input.I suggest you buy a copy of the ILOC 50th anniversary book, which contains an interview with the Slater brothers, and will possibly answers some of your questions.
I own a 78 Jota 1000 which is an original 'Gold' Jota, but no longer Gold and wears 40 plus years of personalization (modifications). I also now have a 78 Jota America 1200, modified, both are fine machines.Slaters developed the Jota on their ancient chain drive Heenan and Froid dynamometer, (it was the 3CE in those days) the bikes were all "made" at Breganze by Moto Laverda, with only the silencers added to the crate at Bromyard (UK) via slits in the polythene internal cover of the crate. This model very successfull, and then the name was expolited throughout the planet, and sold in many different forms including 120's, Jota 1200 America anyone?
