They're at it again, review my arse. More travelling radar for sure.
It now bounces from 100 to 80 and then 60 with regular changes along its length.

From 16 June, the speed limit on sections of Mount Darragh Road will be reduced to improve road safety following a review.
 
Yes, it is, here are some local news reports that justify what they are doing. Makes some interesting reading, more detail than the usual, Cops will do a report to the coroner you usually see. Not a huge percentage of bikes involved. The lots of animals comment I found odd.

I knew there was a reason why I never joined a certain very big NSW Italian bike club. Their Facebook page thread on this subject lasted 14 posts before the Jackboot came down. There was general agreement that this was overhanded by the burocrates in charge of road safety with nothing but well-considered comments and links to local media but down the hammer came. They have a very strange way they moderate there.

Italian m'cycle forumming PRC or Putin style.
 
It's worth reading the link to those news reports above. Apparently there have been 15 fatalities in the Bega Valley in 4 years and 4 have happened on this road, that's averaged at 1 per year over the 4 years and that includes a road rage incident where some arse hole deliberately ran over a pushbike rider. Any road death is tragic but how the hell does this statistic result in way lower speed limits for all. Some very interesting reading for sure.
 
I note the irony of Glenn Cotter who was advocating for something to be done about the road's safety, and was involved in a serious incident on that very road two days before he was due to meet Bega council to discuss the possible improvements  :o

Judging from the photo of him he rides some kind of American two wheeled v-twin contraption, so it seems hardly surprising he came to grief on such a beautifully twisty bit of road.
 
We are lucky here where the NMCU (bike representative union) has good rapport with the traffic/road authority. Roads are inspected and latent dangers to mc are addressed. National speed limit is 80 though, but on twisty roads with little policing that isn't an issue.
 
To me, it seems any attempt to ride in a sporting way becomes riding it like a Race Track and is THE DEVIL. I even hear this from other riders, eg Cruiser types. It's like a dirty little secret that cannot be mentioned and must be stamped out at any cost. Found that attitude for the last couple of cop encounters, thankfully a rare occurrence. Both occasions I was bearly over the limit but I was on a road they didnt like me to be on.
 
This week I?m doing a course to upgrade my license to MC, road trains etc. the highest classification available, for those outside Australia.

The world has gone safety crazy.

Checklist for course includes. Safety boots, high vis clothing, safety glasses, hearing protection.......... I think they mistook the training course for ?Carpenter?.

I hate driving in hi vis gear. The colour reflects in the windscreen, and at night, the reflections from headlights hitting any sewn on reflective strips, bounces around the cab like comets. Obviously the powers that be insisted on high vis from their office desk. >:(
 
Going through the hoops to maintain my 'Medium Rigid' licence to drive a fire truck. After driving the thing for over two weeks during the SA fires all of a sudden I need medical clearance.
 
I did a job a while for State Rail, easy enough so I thought. Till I found out that the area Safty person office window was directly in view of ME all the time. I had a visit every 20 minutes, and more. Now how to phase this, there were GENDER issues here bigtime. In a Cardassian was and even with me as pleasant as possible whatever was happening was far from Professional. Not talking about sexual harassment she was just NUTS and impossible to deal with plus had zero ideas on building safety. Try complaining as see how that would play out on me. Thankfully not there now

WTF? Why on earth would you need Hi-Viz clothing inside the cab of a truck?
If you step out onto the road, fair enough, put your vest on. But in the cab? The safety regulators have truly gone mad.
I'm actually surprised that hi-vis clothing hasn't been mandated for motorcyclists in Australia by now.
 
It's coming, how many bike jackets with yellow panels do you see around these days.
The one I'm waiting for is when they make the corner advisory speed signs the speed limit.
But I never said that, some ?safetycrate? might pick up on it and say, ?why didn?t I think of that?.
