series 2 jota

thanks to everyone

i'll think i'll paint mine black.....

what about inlet rubbers, they seem a bad fit and dont match the stub or carb very well.

cheers

ah that explains it, they are too long and have pushed the carbs into the tank.

i have a guzzi and never realised

where do i get the correct ones?

I got mine from Alan Bell at Muira, not sure if he still trades, give me an hour and I will see if I can find some old receipts for part numbers etc. (Slater's sold me the wrong ones a good few years back, but may sell the correct ones these days, just don't get in to argument with him about them, Richard is never wrong!).
;)
RE the centre stand, whatever you do don't paint it Pink, yours is a 180, they never used pink ones like some of the later Triples.  :D

Right then, the Manifold rubbers that came from Slater's were part no, 29002058 (that is the number on the receipt, it may be the correct number from the parts listings, or it may be the number of the Guzzi rubbers) Muira didn't add a part number, only, "Manifold rubbers 1200cc.
The number I have for Alan Bell/Muira is,01823 444334 Fax 01823 444335.
No E Mail address sorry.
It might be worth giving both of them a call, in deference to Richard, I did mention Stevio thought they were wrong just before he jumped down my throat, not realising about the feud at that time!
Best of luck.

This might be worth a look, when I get into the Man Cave tommorow I will measure mine up for you.
Until then.

he is still selling the wrong ones, too long, have the extra eye on the bottom.

Wolfgang has them in stock, he gets his made in Italy at the original supplier
was having cracking problems with them but believe latest batch have had the compound changed

if you try Wagner he will try and sell you the complete kit, manifolds and clamps included as he modified his set up

Hi Stephen

Inside diameter with the caliper sitting on the raised ridges that fit in the grooves on the carb side = 42.00mm

Inside diameter with the caliper sitting on the raised ridges that fit in the grooves on the inlet tract side 40.50mm

but looking at it,considering that they are used and have been clamped up for a while, they were probably both 42.00mm originally

Length 40.00mm

Largest outside diameter 55.00mm

Smallest outside diameter, (the recesses for the clamps) 52.00mm

There is a 3.00mm ridge inside that separates the carb from the inlet stub when both are pushed in, there are two internal ridges on each end that sit in the grooves on the carb and inlet stub.

Hope that suffices, if you want a picture then give me a shout.
Happy hunting.

thanks again for your help really appreciated.

do you offer finacial advice and marriage guidance as well?

cheers

As everyone is so helpful, perhaps i can ask one last question.
I have noticed a small oil leak from head gasket.
I took the head off and the gasket was a bit oily and a tired.
I noticed the liners are proud of the barrel, what is the correct height above the barrel face, also the metal sculls in the head are generally flush in the head, but not absolutely perfect.
Is it the case of skimming the head and making sure the liners are not too high?

thanks again

There is a protruding spigot on the 1000cc engines but the area of the liner that the flame ring bears on should be 0.1mm below the face of the barrel and the head face should be flat. Head will benefit from a light skim and you need to establish whether the liners are sitting correctly in the barrel or if they require machining. The liners can creep up if they have been allowed to cool after replacement without weight on them so it may be that that is causing them to sit proud or it may be that the barrel has shape shifted.

Stephen dear boy, never, ever, accept any form of advice on matters fiscal, from, "anyone" that owns, a, or several, Laverda's.
It is inherent that any such animal does not pay respect to financial aggrandisement. No no, far from it, you must understand, embarking as you are upon the slippery slope of Laverda ownership, that we, the so called, "Laverdisti" are a simple, impecunious Tribe, we care not for such paltry matters as posessing large sums of money or even matrimonial bliss!
Once you have walked upon the virtual rice paper of the high priesthood of the Breganze Masters, you will begin to understand, willing pupil,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Anyway, how much did you say you would give me for my Zane?
:)

Back to my head gasket issue.
Looking at the liners in the barrel casting, the top of the liners are stepped - the outer diameter of the liner sits just below the gasket face, the inner diameter or the bore, sticks up and is raised above the gasket face by 2.3mm.  This part obviously touches the metal skull in the head.
If i pop the head gasket over the liner it sits over the raised part of the liner, but the gasket is only about 1mm thick, so the gasket cannot be compressed at all.

whats your thoughts?

stephen

the skull cap on the head is recessed to accept the spigot on the liner
that is how the 1000cc engines are set up
