Service sheet

G'day Drikko,
May I suggest you add a strip/clean/grease routine for the front wheel speedo worm-drive assembly to your work-sheet, possibly at the same interval as your fork oil change schedule (when the front wheel is out).

Will do, I got the info from here but it differs from the RGS manual which says the interval for services is 2400/4800 miles rather than the shorter 2500/5000kms. Will probably stick to the latter though.

I'm a "if it aint broke don't fix it" sort of guy too. Ride it and change the oil every 1500kays. I also check the valve clearances every 5-10k kays. Fork oil and brake fluids every year.
It just keep going like a good laverda should.

Although the intervals on your service sheet are quoted on Laverdamania, in my experience it's rather extreme to replace bearings and chains/cush rubbers at the indicated intervals. Check by all means, but I would expect quality items to last longer unless you're jet washing the bike or subjecting it to 'extreme conditions'.  Similarly, things like carb cleaning & seal replacement is more down to age/usage than mileage.  You can do more damage unecessarily stripping down than not!

Anyway, one thing worth regular attention is greasing the swingarm bearings - I'd recommend 'pumping your gun' every oil change interval.  And replacing brake/clutch fluid every 2 years should not be overlooked, plus checking/replacing the clutch slave cylinder O-ring.  Regular greasing of all lever pivots is also worthwhile.  That together with properly adjusted chains, carbs, ignition timing and valve clearances make for a sublime riding experience!  8)
