Interesting but the requested price seems extreme, whole parts bikes are in that order of magnitude in USA - PM me if you're willing to negotiate!

Interesting Paul. Can you be more specific , in which Peugeot model/engine have the same as suitable for a Laverda?

Andy
Perhaps he means that a valve is a valve etc. Plenty of people have adapted valves from cars or other bikes to use.
For the money asking for that head I would want to confirm that everything, valves, seats, cam, followers etc is in tip top condition. It has just been pulled off an old engine from the looks of it.

Searching aftermarket sites you can find all sorts of stuff that could be adapted - pistons, rings, valves. And beyond that you can have everything made: sleeves, pistons, valves, guides, cams etc. I turned an inexpensive small-valve head from Wolfgang into a cracking fire-breather. Have to agree, the SF2 head is somewhat expensive. Good luck with the sale - if there's a demand, it will go.

I have a Basket Case frame & engine #16566, only missing the parts offered here.

So, like Arancia, I too am interested. And like Arancia sez about whole parts bikes for that price, I got one complete (in parts) SF2 and another SF2 less the head parts offered here for less than the $1800 asking price here.

I guess I misunderstood. I thought all parts original was best. Did Laverda NOT manufacture their own valves???

I think no motobike or car company is producing the valves by themseves. There are specialized manufacturers which are producing valves, pistons and a lot of other parts, Brembo the brake, Veglia the speedos…..

Ok I wish Peugeot did the starters Sf & Gt. I know they are ND. A guy wanted to sell me one for $750! (though it was decades ago)

Yes, unfortunately the starters are very hard to come by - and a new one from the Laverda importer back in the late 70s was the most expensive genuine part I ever bought for my SF (AUD$450 back then). They were fitted to little Honda sports cars (NS1000?) back in the 60s, but those cars are even rarer than 750SFCs these days! I've toyed with the idea of developing an alternative using Honda Goldwing or big Yamaha XS starters, but unfortunately I think they simply lack the grunt of the .95hp ND on the SFs. I wonder if an auto elec wizard could upgrade one of those, because if so, they wlould solve the problem for us and offer a much cheaper and more plentiful alternative.
