SF starter clutch springs

Does anyone know where I can source some decent starter clutch springs for an SF? I'm having shit trouble getting anything to work longer than a few starts and runs. Whatever I'm using they are useless (3 sets gone in a week virtually and can't remember where I bought them). All parts of the starter clutch are in good nick and came off my high-comp SF, which would run for several years without needing new springs.

I know they're a weak point in the SF but FFS, these are simply the wrong material and break far too easily. I need the SFQ running cleanly so I can ride it out to get it registered.

I get a set from Andy Wagner every ten years or so.
No complaints.
I'm never troubled with the sprag clutch on any of my 750s.

sounds like the engine is kicking back against the starter when you are trying to start the bike, is the most common cause of starter clutch issues
and if that is the case then you do not have your Ignitech unit configured correctly

I'd agree Red but it doesn't sound or feel like that. But I'd certainly love to think that it is 'just' that. What i don't understand is why all the springs come out half munted even when they were only in there for 5km.

I'll send you a pic of my map. BTW, the bike absolutely flies - it's beyond anything I could have imagined.

don't send me a picture, just send me the map itself

I am far from knowledgable but I think that Ignition has the facility to hold spark from happening for a couple of spins so the Starter Clutch can get fully engaged. The Editor of Two Wheels SFC Triple broke its Starter Clutch backfiring with a weak battery years ago when parts were hard to get.

I did set the Igni to that but currently at 0 revolutions before spark. Cranking speed is no problem but maybe that will help - was set to 1 or 2 revos before I sorted my fuelling issues with the accel pumps.

1 or 2 revs would certainly help ensure the sprag is fully engaged before ignition. There's no downside that I know of to using that setting

Yep, it was actually on 1 but am changing to 2. A few other wise suggestions from Red. Many thanks to him for his patience as I got my head around the Igni software. 🙏
