SF1 750 Engine Noise

Shaun is correct, you should have square bideied fuekl taps if you are bothered about poin point acuaracy (I am not0 but the original Paoli taps are no longer available, an aftermarket type is priduced, but the square body is smaller and still looks wrong, The only way is to get a pair of knackered originals (not easy0 and rebuild them (quite simple)

By thew way
as usual all the above diagnosers could be wrong, I would bet a penny to a pound of pot, that you have drilled out the rivets in the clutch drum in order to replace the cush drive rubbers, and the replacement bolts (and washers) are now sticking out too much, and are contacting the inside of the primary chain case, they will have cut a groove, and this lessens the noise, plus it will change with hot/cold cycles as everything grows and shrinks, you need to get the primary case off and have a look, that swarf going round will not do your bearings a lot of good.I hope I am wrong, but you should check.

Mike has already fixed it with a drop of oil on the points cam.

Maybe the groove got as big as it's going to get, about the time the oil hit the felts ... stranger things have happened.

As he said: That squeak was one hell of a loud noise and it was a massive relief when a drop of oil stopped it. Just saying, I'd er on the side of caution, before a long haul.
