SF1 Carburettor Query

I have an 1972 SF1 Laverda Twin which I am renovating. The carbies are PHF. One is PHF32A(D) and the other PHF32A(S). So far so good! I have removed and cleaned the various jets but unfortunately didn't make a note of which float bowl belonged to which carburettor. The float bowls are slightly different. One has an extra orifice in the base which doesn't appear to do anything. Question is does it matter which one goes where?

The bowls should be the same, but, as the "incorrect" one fits OK, it doesn't matter where it goes.

The PHB/PHF carbs had several versions of float bowl fitted through the years, main difference being the central fixing nut size. Probably several other minor differences as well.
