SF2 erratic idle issue.

plus the propellant which is all you are really after with a test like this.
Interesting, I didn't realize that, cheers. Someone I didn't like told me once at the pub that any aerosol worked but I didn't believe him. Now I see that nearly every aerosol in my house and garage has the propellant listed as "Hydrocarbon".

Kero is still cheaper than WD40 for cleaning and lubricating cables ;)

Has there been a change in weather conditions - much colder could result in a lean idle mixture?

regardless of this try turning the idle mixture screws out a further 1/8-1/4 turn. I always found that my Dells on the SF would need this little bit of extra richness to get a clean return to idle, even though highest idle was a tad leaner. Some SF2s also came with a too-small pilot jet (#45 from memory - too small!).

If this doesn't have any effect, it sounds like air getting past the o-rings in the intake manifold isolators. Have never tried it, but you can spray starting aerosol around the intakes and see if it has any effect. One of the popular starting cans here in Oz is called Start Ya Bastard!
In UK the brand is called “ Easy-start” …commonly referred to as Gypsies Breath! Start you Bastard is best name ever !

Me and my Lawn Mower love it, I would hate to try and Start it without using that stuff. And it's got a Honda 4-stroke motor.

Ditto my old Briggs & Stratton and the new one with a Kawasaki motor. They just don't seem to like sucking up the fuel when cold from only the pul start.

I think WD40 is 50% kerosene and 50% fragrance and hype…
Straight kero is cheaper and just as effective 👍
MSDS states white spirit ( low grade at that ) if any of my contacts use that crap WD40 i will tell them to wheel their bike away, does more harm than any good, on plastics. CRC 2.26 is in use daily here, bikes and electronics alike. j

FWIW, in cases of erratic idle, in the past on customers bikes, fuel pilot screw out 3 or more turns, not a panacea, as many are the root causes, it does give you a fighting chance to keep the engine running while poking around with diagnostics, manual and chemical..j

With all these suggestions we're waiting with baited breath to see what the solver was, Zorba! If something changes suddenly it's a different species of search than if something goes out over a longer time frame. How long since it's run off idle to your liking? I'm thiunking it's a simple prob, easy fix. But as per suggestions above a full tune is always appreciated by your beast.
Full disclosure. Some dumbass set the idle air screws per the green book and forgot to adjust them with idle drop method after balancing carbs.
Seems fine now that dumbass adjusted correctly.

Cheers for all the suggestions.
