Have a new toy and looks like it's due for new rubber fore and aft. Fitted with OEM Oscam
wheels and would like opinions regarding brands and fitment i.e. tubeless ? tube type ?,sizing
and sidewall choices. My usual plan is to go for original sizes and aspect ratios but lets hear
from the masses. AND are radial tires okay....Just saying...
 
I run T32 Bridgeton Sports Touring tyres with 110 on the front and a 140 on the rear with a 3.00 rear rim. I like them a lot, I got 10k out of that rear with plenty of grip. That 140 is the smallest radial tyre available, works great on my spoked rims. When Radials first arrive on the scene I was curious and asked at my local bike shop about them, the Nose Picker with the Physics Degree behind the counter told me on my old bike the insane grip they produced would snap my frame in two. He had no idea what the hell he was saying. What is important is using close to the correct tyre size for the rim involved. That 140 on a 3. oo rim technically is too wide, but its fitted size is 145mm, that 2.5mm out either side of the rim and effectively irrelevant. I did need to muck with the chain guard a bit, I wouldn't go a 150 as that's too far out for me and would compromise the tyre cross-section fitted to a 3.00 rim. BTW that's on my 3c, I hear later models have wider swingarms. Once it goes 150 and bigger chain clearance can cause issues as well.
 
Bit more to it, they make typically 3 grades of Knobbys these days, full Knobbys with specific types for different terrain, 20%road 80% off-road, and 80%road 20%off road which is what I am using on my Atlas. As crazy as it sounds some of the bigger Adventure bikes come with close to 200hp at the wheel, think about using that with Knobbys fitted does my head in.

I believe he will want road legal knobbies as well ..... so that will narrow the field a bit.

I know where he lives ..... so probably intermediates. Weather can be quite variable there.

Of course he may even need studded tires for winter.

Oooh...cheeky monkeys !! I pretty well had already arrived at Michelin Bib Mousse...However I
may see if Avon's are available...oh!,bugger supply line issues....I'll just talk with Wolfgang for his
input once he's back from Europe. Good to chat.

They don't like sustained high speeds and melt. Some good Mousse info here.
I once watched Shane Watts change one of these after Day 1 of the World 6 Day Champs at Traralgon in Victoria, BTW it was mostly rained out. I drove 1800ks in 2 days to just see that tyre change, he had probably 10/ 600mm tyre irons and worked his arse off, there are insanely hard to change. Its Easter so nobody is here, sorry about all the knobby stuff, more info will probably happen after the holidays.

BIB Mousse - how many?

Hey race fans, maybe y'all can clear up a lil' argument for me. How many off-road racers (rally raid, enduro, MX, etc.) use BIB Mousse tire...
