SFC 750 fairing screen

I recently had the same experience with Gustafson as Rob did with Handcraft. Two emails promptly replied and then no more contact. Quentin sourced screens from a bloke just around the corner, and way inder half price from Gustaf, and posted as a gift it was a happy win. There is nothing local in this country, and being outside EU there are taxes galore (on the price including shipping cost) from every other country. Quite remote here too Rob.

Hey Rob, I'm about to get a box big enough for your SFC fairing. As mentioned, Peter from Screens for Bikes is literally up the road from me. He made three Jota and one ZXR screens for me, $150ea. I dropped a borrowed Jota fairing and he used that for a template.

He is retired but did me a favour - said he was about to head off OS so might not be around, but if you want I could at least give him a call. And I could lend him the actual SFC fairing.

It might not happen, but if so, at the very least I could include screens in the big SFC fairing box so you save on shipping as well. What are all the screens you want for? Same bike or all different?

Handcrafted has a pretty big building, but I got the impression it was a one or two-man affair. But selling stuff is what they do, so I don't know why they didnt. Surely all 5 screens would fit into each other in one box, all suitably bubble-wrapped. Set up to make one and do 5, seems like a very profitable job. Makes no sense as usual.

Run it pass them Q. with the fairing they should be able to make it suitable. Prefer if it was just the bubble then I can use my original as pattern to cut the final shape.
An order of 5, one need to go to Qld if that suits Adam.

I always cut my own screens, since the pre-cut ones usually have too small a radius, causing the screen to be too high and often there’s an ugly step from the fairing nose to screen. When you purchase an uncut ‘quarter bubble’, you can choose yourself from which section to cut the screen. Here’s one on my 1973 SFC.

I'll give him a call on Monday. Unless he's willing to arrange the shipping to Queensland, I won't be offering to take that on. Not a problem if I include four with your fairing, but I don't want to be responsible for packaging and sending screens.

See if he's around and what he can do.

Get a full-face shield and ear muffs like you would use with a chainsaw. Ear and eye protection. Works great for any type of machining.

I have had the centre detach using Dremels. BTW anyone ever found bigger discs than 30mm dia. I usually buy them by the canister. They dont last long. I keep seeing people in those Car Reno shows on TV using 100mm dia and bigger cutoff discs without any guards. I know guards interfere in some cases, but these types of tools look bloody deadly.

Hi Marnix
I see a lot of photos of SFCs with the screen to high. I intend to use my original as a pattern to cut the shape.
I’d certainly do that! Apart from having the wrong arc, pre-cut screens (photo) usually tidily follow the line of the upper wings, which the originals never did.
