SFC gauges

HI There all, First post on this forum, thanks for having me!
Quick question SFC1000 1985 , I am unsure of what was happening at Laverda at this time, but am looking at an SFC with black Smiths "Laverda" gauges (tacho and Speedo) and a black Veglia Temp gauge. I have seen other examples with all white Veglias, and also one with both large white and the temp black all Veglias. Can anyone shed any light on what might be considered "Standard".

I have 2, both from 1986 and they both have all white Veglia guages.

The Smiths clocks were effectively left-overs from the GT-SF production. Many of them quickly expired once put to use after laying idly on a shelf for 10-odd years and were replaced under warranty with Vague Veglia clocks. This entailed a swap of the alloy "dashboard", drive cables and speedo drive gears, probably about 50-80 bikes affected. White Veglias became standard fitment after this debacle.

It was later discovered the grease in the clock workings had dried and hardened, causing siezures.

Couldn't live with that temperature gauge at that angle..... does my head in even now :unsure:
great looking gauges apart from that but(y)(y)

Not much around here is vertical - still, we are all getting old :)

The use of those old-world Smiths clocks sure is incongruous on such a modernistic styled bike. Not a good move that.
May be the advertising slogan was..... 'Laverda Technology - State of the Ark'.
