SFC headlight rubber

Has anyone a diagram of the correct way to mount the SFC headlight and rubber into the fairing?

(bigthumb) Jimmy was kind enough to send me some photos of his set up, but I'm curious as to how the rubber ring is located originally.

Thanks.

All I can remember for the moment is that it was an unpleasant and awkward job to do. I will look through my photos to see if I have anything of use for you.Do you have all the correct parts?

Ian, I've got the headlight and bucket, and the rubber ring.

Jimmys pictures looked like the rubber ring was rivetted into position. But would have thought there'd be a metal ring on the front edge of the rubber to support/clamp it, not just 8 or so rivets around the inside.
Any help appreciated.

Chris,
The problem is that the fairing is probably not original one so the fibre glass around the headlight assembly was not important to the makers. It will most likely be too thick in places and out of round. The thickness I refer to is where the headlamp support ring screws (3) go through the fairing to meet the rubber cap that seals the assembly from the inside. If the glass in that section is too thick then you will have problems like I had.

Ian, I know it's not khosa, but what I do isn't.

I've cut the rubber so there is only the horizontal and glued the sucker into place. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the rubber ring to seat properly. I even made up a ring to clamp the rubber to the vertical plane, but still the top and bottom sections were out by 5mm or so.

I'll let it set over the weekend and see how it looks.

Thanks for your help though.

Ian, when I saw 17118 a few months ago, the headlight rubber was sitting quite proud of the fairing at the front. The Eurobrit mechanic who'd apparently been struggling for a while to make it fit nicely, wandered over to check the fitment on my bike. He gave a big "aaaahhhhhaaaaa" and a sheepish grin.

Pat,
To be quite honest it was not the best resto I have done. I rushed it at the end as we were moving house at the time and it had to go and Rob was left with a few things to do.I think those things were passed on to EuroBrit. Rob also got my MV which I was quite happy with on the other hand.
