SFC restoration question

I have always used avgas in my SFC, first for the octane and then for the lead for the valves. Being a pilot, I have always had access and there are no questions about the quality and composition. Can't run it in any of the newer bikes, but it works well for the old ones. Just keep the oil changed to prevent lead buildup in the oil. Only issue I have ever had was fiberglass slivers stopping up the small filter on the fuel inlet spigot on the side of the carb.

I visited Rod Pratt 10 or 12 years ago. He was looking after a house right on the beach down Elsternwick way. The place was jam packed inside and out with fibreglass fairings, tanks, offcuts, etc. He was also a frame builder, gave me a 1:1 scale drawing of late SFC frame. A very interesting bloke. We planned to catch up at the footy but never got around to it.

Hi Greg,
If your cool with sending it over west I'd make ya a carbon tank from it.
Yea ok, contact me privately to discuss.

Not sure of the suburb where I first visited Rod but it was on the bay down from Melbourne, I thought it was a family home tho. Original old home in amongst new mcmansions, he was building 2 Macintosh Suzuki's, a 1/2 scale wedge type formula one body, an SFC 750 one piece race bike body, a Ducati frame and bodywork...and storage of all sorts of rare stuff. Last time I saw him was at his sons house in Frankston and he was selling everything and going travelling. Haven't heard from him since.
