Hi
Has anyone fitted bar end weights to a sfc1000.i have fitted some to my rgs no probs, but the sfc seems to have a blanked off end with a rivet at the centre.this will have to be drilled out, does anyone know the ID of the clipon?

Neale,

There were chrome, domed end plugs with rubber expanding grippers (expanded by an allen screw in the end of the plug) fitted when I got the bike - not true bar end weights, though quite fairly heavy in themselves.  Bar end weights are normally used to counter high frequency vibes - is that a problem for you?

My standard SFC1000 clip-on ID is 18mm but it has been newly powdercoated and this has gone into the tube; though not a thick coating, the true bare metal ID will consequently be fractionally more than that.

Hope this helps,

Regards, Andy

thanks
yes my rgs had slight high frequency vibes,so i fitted a set of heavy polished stainless bar end weights off a triumph speed triple(120 crank) and 900cc so probably about right, and they worked a treat.but the sfc clip ons are slightly different,i think i will drill the rivet out and remove the plug and have a look.

The original 1000SFC clip-ons are not good in quality I feel. I have two sets here where on one both sides are not possible to get fastened anymore and on the other one 1 side can't be tightened enough not to turn anymore.

I have replaced both with Telefix Racer fully adjustable ones. Not easy to set up as you have to many possibilities to adjust them and there are no scales or anything that shows you the differences between left and right, but they do work great and have open ends to take bar-end weights.

Any time... :-)

the Telefix have a classic look and come affordable in price. They produce them even in gold (the alloy parts) and black (the handles), which fits very well to the Laverda. You can have them in all black, too, and if something brakes, you can buy just the broken part, which is way cheaper than a new set. Had to buy two new handles recently as I dropped the bike on both sides over the years, which bent the handles to a degree I did not like to continue riding with it.

BTW: I stand correct, I have the "PROFI" version, which is the 4-axes adjustable one, the racer is adjustable only in 3 axes. With 149?/set they are really a good alternative. They do them in 41,7mm on request.

Hi Lothar,

Are the black/gold bars you mentioned special order?  I had a look on the website and can see only black/chrome.

Regards, Andy

yes, they are, but I am not sure they cost extra or come for the same costs. I bought a set used a while ago, now on the pre-production bike.

Here is a similar one, just for 38mm forks (already sold; not to me...):
