I'd consider the SFC1000 if it's any easier on my old bones than the Jota, but I don't have the money or space to put it. I'd have to sell something. Would you take a Datsun 260Z in exchange?

When I sold 3172 in Dec 18, it had 11871 on the clock, I had added 4000 in a couple of years.
It was a great bike. It should have the full purchase records going back to first buyer.
Recommendation when I sold it back to the previous owner was to put kits through the carbies - was always juggling float levels. Hope that was done. Also had to reweld the LHS muffler and expected the RHS to do the same cracking.

My Plan A was Redax supplied Mikuni's for it, but previous owner was regretting the sale and wanted it back. Was surprised when I heard he had on-sold it.

I eventually got the Mikunis, complete with a rebuilt 1200 attached to them. That one's a keeper.

This pic is from when I sold it.

Well now I know three of the previous owners!!
I did get all of the history that I mostly knew as one of my local mates nearby owned her while I owned my other one.
I had to do quite a bit of tuning including ignition and replacing a carb body with a crack near the manifold coupling that was drawing air she does run very well now, but this is the second SFC1000 I have owned and I am afraid to say that they are just not for me, just too big and slow steering.

Stearing can be massively improved by GSX-R Rims (which even look like the original ones), other tires, different rear shocks and a little bit more push through of the fork. The picture above shows to little push through from my perspective and the bike has the shorter Konis on them (which were original, but are roughly 1,5cm shorter than the golden Marzocchis, which the bike originally was designed with...).

It remains top-heavy though and you need some decent leg-length and strong upper body to controle it in slow speed or when stopping, I agree. Getting off the bike is also sometimes a bit of a problem, especially if the ground isn't totally leveled.

I had a good comparison when I restored the 1000 SFC Classic to it's original glory some years ago. Changing from the classic back to my bike was such an improvement that I sold the classic right after.

Good you got the carb sorted and no, not my damage My soln was mikuni. She got a good run from me. Handling wise I was pushing the front Got the dry horrors riding it hard. Classic museum pieces dont need riders like me on them. Also sold a nice guzzi 750S I owned for a long time but stopped riding for the same reason.

Whoever buys yours has 1 of 12? that came to oz thats had very little use. Great original bike.
