The Problem.
My SFC1000 likes to fracture the muffler mount brackets.
I've gone through 2 sets of these crappy brackets, made from 2.0mm mild steel.

The Solution
Make your own, that are both stronger and better supported with 2 x rubber ant-vibration isolators per side.

The finished product is fabricated from 3.0mm stainless steel, and hand polished on my bike.
To mount them, you need to ...
a. Get rid of the pillion footpegs, that you probably didn't use anyway (your calf muscles will love you)
b. Purchase 4 x SS 30mm x 20mm x M8 rubber anti vibration isolators (from ebay or other)
c. Purchase SS fasteners, as per images.
d. Polish prior to fitment.

I've had 2 spares sets fabricated, and simply would like to recover costs.
$AUD100.00 per set + postage.
PM interested.

If it "eats" the brackets, something is wrong. I would check if the engine mounts are in good condition and are mounted all tight with the right torque, the exhaust is mounted without tention, the valve clearance is perfect and the carbs and ignition are in perfect sync.

Typically, this comes from missing or insufficient adjustments or from insufficient insulation. Maybe the original double rubber blocks are better than the single ones?!? Not sure...

Making the brackets stronger instead of finding the route cause can (!) cause the vibration to kill the next part: the footrest-plate...

it could be that something is out of balance (very likely) I hope that its the wheels and not the crank (possible)
CLEM

The original brackets of the 1000 SFC brake quit often. I have some 4 or 5 which are welded by previous owners.
