Side Stand

Are the original forward mounting side stands available, am struggling with the modified centre stand and Kawasaki type side stand on 77 Jota. Richard

What's the issue, the original side stands are absolute crap compared to the Jota Joe ones. Hard to get at while seated and unstable.

The original side stands are available, but quite expensive new.
They are unstable in a way that the whole caboodle flexes when deployed, requiring some sort of bracing.
Easy to get to with left foot while seated if the OEM tang is still in place.

If you have one of the modified side stands, original design Jim Bushman, use it and modify to your requirements.

If you've got one of the Bushman/Joe/Grant stands, no need to modify centre stand. Make up an additional plate to mount the side stand further back.

Paul, the problem I have is, the tang on the centre stand has been cut off to accommodate the Kawasaki/Bushman stand. Do you, or anybody, have a picture of a new plate that will enable my sidestand to be used with standard centrestand.

I have a shortened tang and it's a bit harder to use the centre stand but it's still possible, people have welded the tang in a different spot to clear the side stand. Some people just remove the centre stand but that's nuts as there both so helpful. There will be a way to have both that suits you with a bit of thought. I had a much modified std side stand and even moded to death it was still compromised. Boy was I pissed off when my bike loaded with camping gear toppled over when using it. It got binned after that. The bushman one was a revelation making dismounting 100% easier, that one-legged dance to get off will have you tip over at some point as you get older so that makes mine indispensable. Even with the comments about Laverdas looking stupid when parked with a side stand. They look worse tipped on the side with broken fairing screens. Do I sound convincing, I love mine a hell of a lot.
