Silencers question.

Hi All, can anyone on here identify the make of these Stainless silencers I acquired recently?, they appear very well made but they don't fit my Jota very well, the right hand one fits onto the rubber mount nicely, but the left isn't quite as accommodating, it does fit but the angle it fits the mount somehow isn't right.

Thanks - They do look similar, but mine don't have the welded on clamps, i must admit they do sound nicely crisp and raspy on the bike, shame they don't sit properly, i'll have a play and see if i can get them to fit better .

Phil, your silencers inlets look like they may have been modified. From my experience Armours’ silencers are not the best of fits but they can be made to work. When different makes of silencers, collectors and headers are mixed and matched it can make fitting more problematic.

No, there aren't any grub screws anywhere and the end spouts are fixed, but the O/D of the actual silencer end is a bit smaller than my old chrome items.

I will confirm that they are Armours, Poorly made, they fall apart and rarely fit properly. The strapping on the inlets was a poor attempt to stop them breaking/splitting across the welds. The compoents are "Butt welded" which is why the ugly welds are left on. The end caps are not even
close to be what hey are supposed to be. They were a poor attempt of producing "Jota" silencers, clearly something they are not.
Campbells and Harris also made chrome silencers which also had the strapping and left the ugly welds on.... it is just a very cheap way to
produce a silencer...... This is how I manufacture my chrome silencers.....

ask Malcom Cox, Coxengineering ..uk he can do it as you want. I have a set of Jota pipes which fit very well. The only issue I have a remark , the end pipe is short inside and the dia big, they are loud….

Hi Andre, thank you for your recommendation...... When I first started manufacturing the Jota Silencers back in 1978, I managed to
obtain a pair of the very first silencers ever made. The first "Original" Jota silencers were made by a friend of Colin Seeley in Erith in Kent. These
were the silencers used on the first race bikes used by Slaters. All I done was to copy these exactly. Tim Healey in Redditch, Worcs took over the producion of the
Jota silencers for Slaters as the first manufacturer could not cope with the volume of work. Sadly Tim did not copy the orginals correctly, and
cut the one side silencer inlet pipe about 25mm short. (The OEM baffled silencers have different lengh inlets as the collector does not run along
the middle of the engine due to the cam chain tunnel, so the collector is offset)
Because of this error in copying, owners pull the collector over so the silencers reach, and this is the reason very often you will see a different
height of Jota silencers from the rear......one high and one lower....
Following Tim Healey, several companies copied the "JOTA" silencers in different "Variations".... Campbells, Keihan, Harris Performance Products,
Myself (Cox Engineering), and Armours poor copy.
I went to see my old mate Richard Slater in about 2010 who used to buy and stock my exhaust parts with 5 different brands of Jota silencers,
and ALL had different variations, and different mounting positions....hence often fitting issues..... I copied the OEM seamless Lafranconi specifications and bracket positions, which are correct. Here are some pictures from Slaters from around 2010 when I went to Slaters so Richard
could try my silencers on a few bikes......

I have never bought new stainles exhaust parts for TOG (1200TS as if you didnt already know) so the fit has always been a chalenge, with no idea who made any of the components, you would expect this, I suppose, the "best fit" of parts was assembled and didnt last very long before cracking, repaiir and gusseting helped a bit, but it didnt really go away until about ten years ago I set about making the them fit, and be very relaxed before anything got tightened up, and even then with no strain caused by the tighteneing up, they have never cracked since. I wanted some alterations anyway, as I was fed up with the rear chain contacting the silencer when pushing the bike around, if the chain was even a minscule bit too loose, so that area was addressed, and then there is the brake pedal travel being limited on the other side, that got the same treatment. here are the pictures of what my silencers ended up looking like.
