The earliest I can find a Sterling Silver 244 being used by BMW is 1987; 5 years after my silver RGS would have been painted. There are many shades of silver available to choose from, perhaps too many. My painter reckoned 354 gave the best match to the original colour but each to their own. Polaris Silver was also being used by BMW in the early '80's and might be worth considering but I like the 354 silver shade on the RGS.

well we do treat JLO as Moses and his tablets,(though I think he may mean the nearest to the original factory colour), Ian :D

JLO is the first to admit that some of his info on the website may be variable as it is often from user inputs.
My guess is that the paint references are a mix of original references interspersed with what folk have found to be a close match.

I fully agree Shaun, the shade given in Laverda Mania may be the closest to the factory shade when published but there are so many shades of silver that are only subtly different when set side by side. As I said, just go with what you're happy with and give the rivet counters something else to criticize 😀
