32mm, LH thread.
Ignition problem?

Not all LH thread I seem to remember and what might be important as well is the diameter and pitch of the thread on the end of the crank.
Some triple geezer will come up with those.

Are you thinking of the bolt holding the rotor to the crank on a series 2?
With markings it's a left hand thread, no makings, normal thread.
The nut in the photo on the series 1 engine shown is always left hand thread.

Other way round, Grant. ;)

Markings identify a normal, RH thread bolt, no markings, a specially made LH thread item.

Hi Piet,
normaly its the other way, but....
Left treads have marks right dont..😊

On commercially made nuts and bolts, yes.

The LH thread Laverda bolts for the Mk II/ND alternator rotors were apparently made in-house and are not marked.  The RH thread bolts are generic items with manufacturers markings.

I'll have a look if an original bolt is in stock and post a pic.

Unless your trying to narrow the case width for ground clearance why would that nut size matter. I would have thought leaving the std cover on and adding crash protection over it would be a better idea. Wacking the crank end on the ground wouldn't be my first choice. That sounds expensive. What am I missing here.I know the Euro racers have a reg about under engine oil catch tanks, are they coming to Oz.

I've never found any difference between Japanese and European metric threads. As far as I know they all comply with the same standard thread form.

There isn't, the threads are identical.

Only hex head sizes differ here and there.  In fact, newer DIN norms stipulate smaller hex heads for larger thread sizes, but I suspect this has been brought through by the auto industry as a weight-saving measure.

You guys sure know a lot  of details about Laverdas......and that's a good thing for the rest of us. I know for certain mine is black, the rest of the details .....not so sure

I think you are a little bit wrong. He didn?t ask about hex size .... I?ve never heard anyone call a nut size by the hex size. Example, M8 = 13mm hex, go into your bolt shop and ask for a 13mm nut.
