Well that got your attention.

Whats the views on fitting paper gaskets ( ie not composite / copper etc., ).  I was always taught a small smear of grease was a good idea . Whats your favourite method ? Fit them dry ?

Grease....easier to fit (as Lothar says) and easier to part (grease on both side and rub it in well  :P )
 
I silicone the gasket to one face and let it dry. I then grease the other outer gasket surface.

That way assembly is easier as I know the gasket won't slip out of position. It has already set and I don't use that much so internal oil galleries can't be blocked.

Added advantage is that you know which face will come away when disassembling. It means that some gaskets, like rocker covers, can be re-used with no ill affect.

Just how I do it.
