Some evening fun with my wive's...

I own two Vespas: a 1951 model and a 2003 PX.
You’re bound to fall in love with them.
They’re zippy off the line—you’ll beat plenty of other two-wheelers at traffic lights—and they can go anywhere. They’re real workhorses; with the flat floorboard and an optional luggage rack, you can load them up like a pack mule. They offer good weather protection and come with a spare wheel.
The only downside is that handling can be a bit unpredictable on wet roads.
My girlfriend—whenever I have one—is always happy to park her backside on this monument to *la dolce vita*.
All parts are readily available, and there are plenty of manufacturers making engine tuning kits.
SIP-Scootershop is one option, for instance. In any case, Germany is Vespa country, so you can find everything there too.
 
So - after some swearing and using a lot of hints from the internet, several tools that I was surprised to have and some tricks I developed to get the crank back in place, I finally managed to get the sucker back together with all new seals and gaskets.
Now I need to
-Sandblast the exhaust and get it re-painted
-clean the scooter itself
-install new rear shock
-get the engine in
-change the jets on the carburator and get it back onto the engine
-install all cables (2 x shifter cables, clutch, choke, throttle, all the 7 wires from the ignition plate connected to the right counterparts etc.)
-install new brake shoes and adjust the rear brake
-mount new tires (20 year old tires do not make sense...)
-find OT, mark 18° pre-ignition timing mark and check with the strope
-install the new front shock (44 year old shocks weren't the best anymore...)
-get everything back together
-get it MOT'ed with the new setup

thanks, there are also many German sides about Vespa. Really a different world - anything you could think of is available within 48 hours delivery... several online shops with really good websites, some even with AI driven assistance etc. - extremely cool... No need to repair anything, you simply install new parts. Tuning is extremely easy. Saw a Video of a 407ccm engine based on a 200ccm engine, that finally put out 80,4 HP!! That's 200HP/Liter - quite impressive... And that on a 80 kg (or in that case even less) scooter, which was purely used for racing though... insane...

I've bought some stuff from a scooter shop in Germany for a Laverda. 7mm bronze exhaust nuts if I remember correctly.

Surgery was successful, transplant has been accepted and the patient aspirates freely on his own. He is still on the surgery table but will be taken off after some more health checks and adjustments (clutch, shifter, rear brake, throttle, choke, ideal setting). Next surgery is in preparation (front suspension and tire), but we regard this as a success so far. Family and friends have been informed and are relieved. A full recovery is expected after the first 1.000km.
