Some interesting bikes up for auction Laverda and MV needing work.

...through the Charterhouse motorcycle auction at The Haynes Museum, Sparkford, Somerset today. It was a 3X special edition model, and although it needs a full on restoration, some lucky so and so picked it up for £3600 + vat and commission. It was from a deceased estate, and had obviously been sitting around for some years, but will be a great project.

A 1973 750SF from the same deceased estate sold for £3400 + VAT and commision, and a 1974 SF2 was unsold, so will likely be in the next auction, in June.

The most notable bike from that estate sold for £49000, a MV Agusta 750GT, one of only fifty produced.

I will tell you what does my head in, TV shows where some twat wanks on about always wanting an XXX, in the local context it was an Indian. finds an XXX in a barn, tidies up said XXX and immediately tries to sell this XXX for XXX plus some extra and feels great about it. This always wanting and then never actually driving or riding it at all just shows how much BS flows about.

Well xxx wouldn't have had much luck selling a restored bike for decent money at this auction because most of those bikes didn't sell Vince.

I guess now that everyone who has one has seen 5he price it fetched a few more will appear. They will probably think no doubt theirs is worth more.

Count Agusta MV’s all traditionally command the highest of prices, for good reason, they tick many of the boxes needed for high value. Extreme rarity 1, brand race win pedigree 2. This particular machine does not score high on physical presence compared to say an 850 America as an example, but is not like the very ugly 600. It’s not surprising at all the price of this bike.

It has the extra rarity of one of fifty, and of those, it alledged that a good number were converted to race bikes, which would make this model extra extremely rare.

All that's rare is expensive, however, a horse with no teeth is rare.

I like my steak medium rare, as for the rest.....

Horse steak is highly under rated. However your particular cooking preference.
As for the value of commodities in general, classic motorcycles in particular, I have concerns you fail to understand basic supply and demand, or understand it but dislike the most basic of human derived attractiveness of certain things and unattractivness of other things. Humans’ different levels of attraction tends to be quite consistent per sexual persuasion, and having disagreement and dislike of these traits is quite interesting to observe.

Be assured that I fully understand unfortunately a lot of things about humans.
But being an optimist, I'm convinced that humans can do better and the history and evolution of our societies, in spite of too many bloody occurrences tends to prove that.

I fully understand supply and demand. Part of the evolution of our societies is regulating them to limit unfortunate consequences. It's a perpetual battle.
I do of course find it amusing to see people who have a lot of money due to the amount of shit they suck buy old motorcycles at ludicrous prices due to competition with other shit suckers. There's a lot of them about.
