Yes, I appreciate the pictures.
A lot simpler than playing with electronic pick up whatsit's and boxes of tricks.
Straightforward, simple engineering. Complexity was one of the things that killed Laverda, simple engineering is what makes Enfield India one of the world's top manufacturers today.

I use a voltmeter, leaves your hands free.

It doesn’t leave your eyes free though. You have to look at a voltmeter so you can’t be looking at the timing mark at the same time. Back in the dark ages when I used to mess around with points, I used a multimeter on the lowest resistance scale (ignition off) because it had a built in continuity beeper.
