Hi all I am looking for a speedo drive for the SFC 1000 I am restoring.
Specifically I need the Shaft, Ring gear and the Drive gear bush, I have the cover.
Can anyone help???

Cheers

interesting one this, the SFC1000 Was originally built with 30 year old (on the shelf) Smiths clocks and had the correct ring gear and worm for those clocks, this was a disaster because the grease in the clocks had hardened and this caused multiple failures and a re-call, the dealers were supplied with a new dash mount and the white Veglia clocks, much more stylish and in keeping than the Smiths, those dealers were also supplied with a replacement ring gear and worm, because different ratios were needed at the front wheel, not many of the bikes that were recalled for this change got the gear ratio changes (lazy blleeding dealers!) this is why most SFC1000's have wildly innacurate speedos.

BE QUICK, Alan Bell (Kelip Kelip on ebay) was advertising some of these Veglia drive kits a few months ago, he might still have some!
he might even see this post, if not PM me and I wil put you in touch.

That might be the reason that my SFC speedo shows 170 km/h at 5000 rpm, it is really a fast bike. ;-)

Thanks Clem. Mine both have the Vague Liar instruments and #3200 seems to be reasonably accurate. I am restoring #3174 which I need the drive assembly for.
I will send you a PM for Alans contact details.
Thanks again.

Hi Rob, All the usual suspects, meaning all the recognised Laverda Parts suppliers such as Red, JLO, Wolfgang & Andy Wagner etc. Yesterday I managed to secure the Last ring gear from Rowan at Thorne Engineers so now I am looking for the Drive gear ( p/n 40126024) and the Bush (p/n 21604009).
I was trying here in the hope that someone may have had a spare set on the shelves in their workshop, or a second hand set in good condition.
Clem has been PM'ing me with some suggestions which I have very much appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Bruce.
Is it the spindle gear you need for the Smith's or Veglia speedo you need?
Let me know and will check for you today.
Don't have any new ones left.
If I have what you require it will be used in good workable condition.
Cheers Chris.
