SPEEDO/TACHO DIALS

If the problem you have is with the faces fading then they may be able to be rejuvenated without any cost.

The Veglia faces on my Morini were quite faded. I had to pull them apart to try and get them to work anyway so when I was cleaning them I noticed the colour really came back when they were wet.

I had nothing to lose so I put a light coat of crc/wd40 on them and they are still looking good a few years down the track.

I'm sure there are other options too. Some polishes may do ti adnI'm wondering if a coat of clear varnish would do it too, like over a colour coat that has been rubbed back. Still, I'd just use the CRC as it seems to have done the trick.

I haven't needed to pull the ND clocks apart on the Alpino so I can't be 100% sure, though I'm 99% it will work.

If the clear colours are becoming opaque they can sometimes be rejuvinated by polising with a light abrasive (tooth paste/brasso). If they are still too dark to see then LED's may help but again for no cost a lot of the housings are in black plastic. Some white or silver paint on the black surfaces inside the globe compartment caqn do wonders.

Just a couple of ideas that may or may not be relevant to your issue.

I just noticed that Marcel's gauge faces don't have a neutral light either, but an "oil" light.

I reckon he needs to get the idiot lights correct if he wants to sell any to Laverda folks.

I have bought a pair of these faces and they are very good - They are labelled Beam and Flash on the speedo , Oil and Neutral on the tacho.  They look wrong in the photos because he is using the wrong colour idiot light lenses, but these are optional and I reused my original lenses. They are very good quality and fit perfectly. Comparing them to the originals on my Mirage the only difference is a slight difference in the font size on the rpm logo but not noticeable unless you make a direct comparison. For the price they are excellent.

Thank you!

Meanwhile, I also have the GEN tacho face in my shop:

The BEAM lens is red indeed, but if you use a Tamiya spray can, you can easily paint this single lens in blue. That works great.

There is unfortunately a too small demand to make it profitable to produce the BEAM in blue as well.

Blue and red = purple,. Well, thats just fucking great!

All that's needed now is for the red line to be in a sensible place for Laverda triples.

Marcel, can you do a red zone from 8000 to 9000 rpm? The factory nener did it that way but they should have.

Cheers,
Cam

Do you mean one of these? I also have the 8000 rpm version without logo

Exactly! Well, almost ... If you could do it with GEN rather than OIL it would be perfect. I'd be tempted to buy a set even though there's nothing wrong with mine, apart from the red being faded to yellow.

Cheers,
Cam

Unfortunately, these are only available with the OIL tag as these are similar (except the logo) with the Honda CB750K1 faces. As it is a tiny detail, you will have a great face plate with this one forr your Laverda.

Thanks Marcel

I'm probably a bit strange. I'm not fussy about the general appearance of my bike (it looks a little scruffy). But I like functional things to be correct. So it would annoy the hell out of me to have my generator light labelled "OIL". Unlike a lot of old Laverdas, my generator light actually works.

Cheers,
Cam

No problem, but I am afraid that you cannot find the right face for your tacho with GEN. What is worse: a wrong red line or a wrong warning light label?
