Spokes

If you want to borrow my Spoke Torque Wrench let me know. Even without the Toque effect, it's a good spoke wrench with approx 10 different sized spanner bits. It works on a click effect. What's the wheel off.

Piece of cake, Marty.

Might be a bit of trial and error intially, but you'll quickly get the hang of it. Once you're done, you'll be asking yourself why you hadn't attempted it earlier!

Marty, after it is starting to nip up, I always use the concept of groups of four spokes for up and down - tighten four and loosen those opposite. For sideways, two and two per side. Slowly and evenly nipping up until desired tension. If you get confused just leave it and have a cuppa, come back to it.

Hi!
I sent my old spokes and nipples to central wheels in UK, they reproduced them. They worked perfectly and I laced it myself, not very complicated if you have the concept.

If you need old spokes to send to central wheels, I am hapoy to send you a few.
Take into account that there are 4 types, front inner front outer, rear inner rear outer. And the threads and nipples are different from front to rear, so send samples of all of them. Once you have that, many profesionals will do it in a couple of hours. Try a cycling bussiness, they have best tools for that, no joke.

Hi Miguel, that is very interesting. I have looked closely at the spokes provided by Wolfgang, and yes indeed there are 2 different types, head angle is different on half of them. Thankyou, I just learnt something! Now, which is which?

Those with the more acute angle are the outside spokes, wider angle inside.

Have a close look at the hubs, you will find witness marks showing original positioning.

Spoke changed.
I ended up buying a complete set of spokes and nipples since obviously, spokes for a 200mm Grimeca rear drum aren't the same as for a 230mm Laverda drum.
For reference, the spokes for the Grimeca rear are 150mm, spokes for the Laverda drums are 140mm.
I hesitated about respoking completely but didn't, I have too much motorcycle work on my hands, but in the future, tyre change will be accompanied by respoke at home.

Very many thanks to Wilfried and André who sent me a few spokes, for Laverda drums. If you want them back, send me a PM with your address and I'll post them back to you.

Due to popular demand, here is the wheel with my new spoke. It needed bending to get in and straightening after. As good as the factory effort.
Then my next project as soon as my S is ready for the road, (and the wheels back on the wife's 125 DTMX and the mysterious top end leak on her 500 dealt with ) which is to say very soon.
