Spring washers on gear shaft 750SF

Dear all
with reference to the herewith enclosed picture, I wonder what is the right order/position and orientation for the two string washers on the gear shaft.

I pointed out four possible solutions (A, B, C, D), but could be more.
Yellow is the shaft and green the cover, on the left the inner, on the right the outer with the lever in red.

Thanks for any suggestion.

D is the right way.

The outside washer is often flat.

The inner washer doesn't really act as a spring washer, but is formed a little bit to give the spring a complimentary rubbing surface on the outside. (Not least because the spring axis twists as it moves)

You have the wrong washers both should be flat not spring.  One goes against the internal spring the other goes outside the selector cover against the o ring.

Thank you both.
The two washers I have seem to be quenched and burnished and are a bit formed as Haggis said so I concluded they were springs.
Thank you again for explanation and super quick response!

Yes, two flat washers.
Inside the casing to hold the selector spring, outside to hold the O ring in . You sometimes need two washers on the outside depending on how your lever sits on the shaft.

If you put to many washer on the inside the triangle covered will not seal.
The one inside acts like a shim i do believe.
Haggis and Alan are spot on.

I always check that there is sufficient play to allow the shaft to rotate without any binding by checking the gap with the gasket removed and cover loosely fitted. I also use a large OD shim INSIDE the spring to prevent the tangs of the spring fouling between the eccentric screw and the limit stops. Not essential but I have seen the tangs prevent sufficient up-down movement to allow a clean shift (ie full travel).

I noted it too, good idea, so I will apply it.
Thanks
