Stalling at idle

Well it?s been a while but On the way back from rego day the bike stalled every time I came to standstill. No idea why it should suddenly start doing this. Ran fine, and as long as the throttle was on a tiny amount at standstill it wouldn?t stall. I did notice the revs lingered a bit high when I parked up at the rego day, like the throttle was stuck on but that was it. The little adjuster wheel didn?t make any different but didn?t touch anything else.

Any pointers on what to check?
 
Battery leads, give them a wiggle along the wires and make sure they're tight. Check the fuse connection as well, not loose or tarnished. How long since it was tuned, plugs, carbs synced, shims.
Check the small hose that links the carb manifolds, that used to be a special for leaks. Didnt you sort the chokes a while back. Try it with the fuel tank cap open.Does it stall immediately when it stops or does this take a few seconds?

I think he's already tried that. He said "The little adjuster wheel didn?t make any different".

Go with Kermit's suggestion and check that all the jets are screwed in properly. While you're at it, remove each jet and check that there's no crud blocking it. There's only 2 per carb - main and idle (the other thing that hangs further down is the accelerator pump pick-up) so it shouldn't be too onerous a task. Also check that the choker plungers are seating properly and the throttle cable isn't hanging up somewhere.

If none of the above fixes it, then I reckon it's off with the carbs to give them a clean and blow through with compressed air. There might be a blocked gallery somewhere.
 
Quick run today and it feels like it?s back to normal again. The idle knob was way out of whack because I was fiddling with it at the lights but once adjusted again it seems to be ok. The revs were a little slow to return to idle but hard to tell.
 
if the revs return slowly to idle, check for air-leakes. good picking up on the throttle but slowly returning typically means the mixture is lean. The longer it holds the revs and then all of a sudden drops, the leaner it is.

easy check if you spray some brake-cleaner around the intake manifolds when the bike is ideling. Revs going up = air leak
