Wouldn't bother with the standard sidestand- get the 'Bushman/Lawton' (or whatever we're calling it these days) bracket which puts the (Kawasaki) stand just behind the engine, where it belongs. There's a thread on here somewhere about it.
I have one, repainted and ready to go, bolts to front left underside engine through stud to the frame.
?60 plus P&P.
But you will regret not going for the Bushman style one.
I also have one, just needs the Kawasaki sidestand.
The std side stand is absolute crap, even modified massively to work better its complete crap. What that means is hard to use and so unstable that mine bowled over with a moderate camping load on the bike. Since fitting the Lawson Bushman I use it 100% of the time. Makes the bike so much easier to use, completely stable on 96% of situations,no more searching for perfect ground to use the centre stand. And Joe donates some of the cost to a charity.
Just in case you might be slightly confused about how much better it is I dont know anyone in the Sydney Laverda club who doesn't have one now.
There a very good thing and dead cheap to boot
Morning campers! Having nearly lost my 180 Jota when putting down the side stand last weekend I think I need to replace it. So who supplies the one where you can still use the centre-stand? My Jota has standard foot rests. Any help (and a photo
of the mounting position would be appreciated) Thanks Steve
It has one tiny issue: it can require a slight modification to the centrestand lifting arm. Talk to Grant about whats needed. But those sidstands make life so much easier its really worth fitting one. Some cut and move the whole Centrestand lifter to clear the sidestand, in my case its just been shortened, requires more effit to use the centrstand in my case I just use the sidstand 95% of the time, its just so easy.
Modified centre stand. My choice, not perfect.
The side stand allows me to throw a leg over the back of the bike with little fear of expensive consequences should I catch my leg on luggage etc.
Photo taken prior to repainting.
You can also buy direct from the manufacturers, they have modified versions available now. https://alumacraft.co.uk
There are three bracket options available for Laverda triples,
1. Original flat bracket, suitable for late models with the short centre stand tang.
2. Bracket for the Marzocchi suspension bikes.
3. Bracket for the Ceriani suspension bikes.
Alumacraft can supply the bracket only (with spacer and fasteners) or the complete kit with side stand. Bracket assembly £75 plus P&P, Side Stand Kit £185 plus P&P. These new brackets are only available direct from Alumacraft.
