So it looks like i have a starter motor issue which seems to be a common trait after looking through the search box.
First thoughts were that it was the battery and though it seemed to be charging OK i had no idea how old it actually was,so this was changed for a newer one with a higher CCA and at least now i could rule that out.
The bike had always started but didn't inspire confidence with a couple of very slow starts, yesterday prior to a ride out I was surprised to see no difference at all with the new battery and with a very slow turnover once again mmmmm :
Anyway a lovely ride out saw me go through the 550 miles on a Jota milestone and we stopped for coffee.
Coffee finished, back on the bike and there was nothing........Oh dear this is going to be embarrassing with a watching crowd. ???
Luckily after some trick moves ie into gear move a tad and back into neutral the starter found its place and just managed to start her up.phew!! that was close........and back home safely.
Today i had a look inside the starter and apart from the dust and dirt I found one of the brushes was at 90 degrees to where it should be, so obviously a loose rivet on the brush holder, yes its a BOSCH.
So at least now i hope to have found my slow starting issue,I will be sending it off to the auto electricians for an overhaul this week and will report back on its return.
