Starter solenoid

Hi - I am rebuilding a restored Jota (1980).  I have got to the point of starting the motor.  On turning on the ignition I got a neutral light (which was a result as it has not been working before the rebuild).  I then pushed the starter button and there was a momentary kind of fwut sound, I thought maybe a fuse blowing or something.  Fuses are fine. Now the solenoid/relay clicks once when the starter button is pushed and the neutral light has stopped working.  I believe the neutral light is NOT blown as it shows continuity when I check at the instrument connector. Any ideas on where to start looking/checking?

Battery condition?
Earth point to frame?
Can you turn the engine over by hand? (not seized)
 
Getting close Martin...pretty much everything is ready to be put back on expecting brakes and wheels need doing so it might end up being new year before she's on the road.  Seems like not so long ago it was in a trailer being inspected outside your place...very much looking forward to getting it on the road.

Thanks for the very kind offer - I'm going to be up in Patonga this weekend.  Maybe over the Christmas break - I've got 4 weeks off so will have some lazy days!  I'd be curious to try a 120.

Actually some of us are planning on a run up Thunderbolts to Bretti park lookout to meet up with Levo on his way down

What day are you thinking of Brett? Im keen to get some miles up.
 
27th sorry  5.30 am start, one stop at Gloucester for fuel.
Then fun times trying to keep up with Levo on the way into Sydney.  :o We need the Moose  :o chuck a sicky

I?m in, need to test a few modifications anyway, I?ll see if JohnK is up for a squirt
 
No but Thunderbolts is fun.. the lookout is called ?? but I know where I mean and so does Levo

The view is sensational and the flies love to zoom in for a chat also or a swat if that makes sense so better bring ya aero gaurd.
