Step by step

What's wrong with Yellow n Black? We can't all be dedicated followers of fashion :D

With the new cam bearings I noticed slightly increased valve clearances (appr. by 0.05 ? 0.10 mm). Obviously
down to tolerances as the bearings should be std. format. Have to get me some new shims soon.

The cam chain blade looked fine at first glance but the bonding between rubber and metal disengaged in the middle
(will be exchanged too).

I pulled the new chain (IWIS G67WZ) in with the old one.

Does the other half know what you are doing with her best tea towels?

Don?t underestimate the 2nd life of tea towels and bedsheets ? highly important stuff when you have to choke so
many deep black holes in a triple head ?

Next planned step is the installation of the Mikuni RS 36 carbs. I?ve received them already together with a 2-way
push-pull throttle-grip ? which is recommended by Topham (Mikuni carb importer in Germany).

However, as described here:  Mikuni throttle cables the additional 2-way push-pull throttle-grip unit makes the
RH bar pretty crowded.

Is it still means of choice to look for a Suzuki GT 550 / 750 twistgrip/switch block if I want the two cable setup?

Thanks
Jo

The Topham push-pull assembly is pretty bulky when fitted alongside the switchgear.
As the throttle housing in the switchgear is now redundant I opened up the hole where the throttle tube used to live and fitted the twin pull throttle assembly there, then wrapped the switchgear round it and tightened it up.

Saves a cm or so and makes things less cluttered.

Thanks Grant! My switch block / throttle housing looks a bit different though:

I will have a thorough look at it as this is another possibility I didn?t had on my radar so far.

Beside this, there is this used Suzuki GT 750 throttle switch unit on German fleebay:

That is what I did, genuine Suzuki NOS from ebay.  It looks and fits identically to std and fits the two cables - easy!  The return cable has to be made to suit, from memory it can be shortened from a new standard cable. You need the whole thing including the throttle tube, as there is an extra cable hole in that also.

You can still channel out a bigger opening in the original metal casing, but using a twin pull Suzuki one will give more space.
I just wanted more modern switchgear, no switching off the headlamp when trying to dip headlight, self cancelling indicators etc.

Those are good reasons to consider as well - but I think I will postpone this to a later phase.
Just pressed the button and ordered the Suzuki unit incl. throttle grip from the fleebay link above.

Many thanks anyways - very helpful information!

GTReiner sells them. Look identical to the std switch block apart from allowance for push/pull cables.

I'd not heard of GTReiner before so I did a bit of Googling.

Seems he doesn't have a website, just an email address GTReiner1@aol.com
He's based in Germany.

Yep, that's him. Sells kitchenware, email him and he will send you a catalogue of kettle parts he sells.
