Sticky float

I'm sure the float pin can rotate without signifying the float is seized on to it.
For me the worst is when the pivot pin will not slide out when disassembling, and needle nosed pliers just chew up the knurled end.
Had a few like that.

Got a pair of sidecutters that I've ground the back away a bit on, never fail, also dead handy for lifting keys out of cranks etc.

I polish the 4 edges of the square float needle and also the adjacent the bore of the seat - ensuring they slide very easily together and do not get hung up. Polish the 4 edges by putting a rag on a flat surface and rub the needle edge longitudinally on it, this will also very very slightly radius any sharp corners. HTH, PH.

Well,
I prefer them to work as they were intended to..and as Keith has just given them (and everything else!) the once over, i am not anticipating taking the pins out ever again..right Keith? :D

Yours now majesticaly swing through their arc supported by nitrogen filled needle roller bearings and can indeed now be considered sealed for life units Nick.
