Sticky key

Morning all,

A relatively simplistic newbie question, but I have the keys for the 750SF I received from Canada a couple of weeks ago - trying to start her for the first time over the weekend, trying to turn the key in ignition (goes in fully without any issues) and it won't turn - before I end up snapping the key in the barrel, there isn't some special mechanism to bring to life is there?

As a secondary question, are replacement key mechanisms/switches available if I can't get it to go.

thanks

Guess your Laverda is a SF2 (with disc front brakes) - should have ignition keys from contemporary Suzukis.
Daft question: Are there numbers on key & barrel? And do they match ..?

If the no's match, you might try to deburr the edges cautiously using a key file ...

Cheers
Jo

When you've checked that you have the correct key, squirt some 3/1 or silicone lube into the key hole.

New switches with keys readily available as Suzuki parts.

Hi Jo, no has drum front brakes - I've given it a quick squirt with some wd40 whilst I was working on one of the others. I'll check the key numbers on the barrel next time i'm down there to clarify (the bike arrived in the container with key in ignition)

Thanks all.
