Studs

I'm about to send SF1 cases off to the soda blasters. The studs are a tad rusty and soda blasting won't clean them up.

Should I:
A: Whip 'em out and have them derusted
B: Whip 'em out and fit new ones
C: Have them bead blasted in situ
D: Think about it some more over a good red wine.

A. Sure, why not? You might strip a couple of holes in the cases if you do, but if the threads are a bit marginal then you're better off knowing about it before you put them back together, and Timeserting is fairly cheap and easy.
B. Sure, why not? Aside from what I said for A, it's only money ::). And time if they have to come from Canada, might be a bit easier in Brisbane.
C. No. Keep beads away from your cases. You can never be sure you got all of them out (guess how I know?)
D. The best option! You could even just put the thing back together with rusty studs, wouldn't be the first time it's been done ::)

Spray the studs with WD40 or similar product, drink the wine slowly, then clean the studs with a rotating BRASS wirebrush.

and then reuse them, only when you bolt your cases back together, put the mearest smear (only one rung above a trace) of copper slip on all the studs, fasten all studs with domed or sleeve nuts and then you get a lovely surprise if and when you ever see them again.
