Silly answer, I know but its a bit hot in the wobbly bit of eN Zed, and my brain has melted. :

I suppose it all depends on if your reference point is the top or bottom of the frame

But I would say forward when viewed from above or clockwise when viewed from the right hand side of the bike.

The simple answer is that the crank rotates the same direction as the wheels.
