Suspect I may have a charging system on the RGS. voltage across the terminals only comes up to 12.9 volts when revving the engine. do I have a problem?

I suspect all RGSs have a charging system Terry. ???

Can you swap batteries and measure again?
Might be a duff one. How old is the battery?

Well spotted Grant :D.
Yes, the yellow peril does indeed have a charging system; pulled it apart this afternoon, checking for bad connections etc. The thing that alerted me to a possible problem was that the indicators seemed to be flashing a bit slower than usual.
I'll take your advice and switch over batteries with the ride-on mower tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the reply.
Terry

It's the easiest thing to check first.
No point  ripping into wiring straight away.

Try it with the lights on,that ups the demand a bit, It should be closer to 14 at 3k. With luck its the battery or Regulator and not any deeper

Yeah, hopefully it's the battery but will still be disappointed as it's a Deka and was installed not all that long ago.
Feel a trip coming to the wreckers  :(

What the? Got up early this morning, before it gets too hot, to change over batteries. Thought I'd start it up and test the voltage before removing the battery, got up to 14ish volts whilst revving the engine ???
Anybody got an explanation for this weird behaviour or is it just paranoia.

Yes, it's going to be 36 C today, nice and cool in the shed at 07:00. ;)
