Any tips apart from the obvious freeze them, for getting needle roller bearings in the swingarm without destroying them?
A once every 15 years job that can seem like a first time, every time.

I have successfully used a long length of threaded studding plus very thick penny washers and nuts to draw the bearings into the arm, one end at a time. The critical part is to ensure the bearings start off square.  Seem to remember replacing and/or increasing the diameter of studding because of the thread giving up the ghost during the process! Oh for a decent press...

As you note, heat (swingarm) and cold (bearings) for differential expansion helps

Alignment is the key. I'd recommend having some sort of guide that goes through the whole swingarm to keep the bearing parallel particularly for the first 10mm or so. I do a lot of bicycle bearings (which aren't super-tight) but will never go in if they come even slightly out of parallel.

I so would love to have a 30T press in my shed!
 
A 5 ton press is man enough for this, surely you have a local engineering shop that could do it  It's just a 5 minute job.

I changed them shortly and I used this bycicle tool from my previous life, worked nicely... maybe you can built something similar

You're of course right Piet, I have some well equipped friends but:
a) I'm hobbling around on a broken ankle
b) we're in lockdown encouraging a "do it yourself attitude"

Got one side in, nearly. The last cm won't go.
Will use thicker threaded rod tomorrow. The 8mm one is stretching, will use 12 mm.

Yes, the bigger the better. If you can get fine thread it helps a lot too - and lubricate thew threads.
